Mindy MacKay was born in Brockville, Canada, but relocated to Texas as a tiny tot.
Originally French-speaking, she exchanged her native tongue for cowboy boots and a Texas twang.
As a child, she experimented in a number of different fields, including figure skating, poetry,
and musical study of the piano and cello.
While spending Christmas vacation 2007 on a cruise ship in the middle of the ocean,
she was struck by a sudden inspiration which developed into the first book in the Puppetmasters series.
The original manuscript, an unsalvageable product of seasickness and sleep deprivation,
needed to be torn down and reconstructed a total of five times before it was anywhere near ready for release.
The 2.5 year long journey of query letters, rejection letters, editing, editing, and more editing took her...well, 2.5 years.
She has lived in various Canadian provinces and throughout sunny Texas. She aspires to move to New York and become a surgeon.
She spends her spare time working on graphic art and following doctors around.
